Concept
The images depict icons displayed on a smartphone screen and images that appeared on X. They feature a mix of motifs from both the real world and the internet, such as clouds floating in the sky, banana peels, and McDonald’s signs. Amid the daily deluge of information, we are tossed about and confused, yet we have no choice but to accept it. As we constantly absorb new information, old information is overwritten and pushed down to the bottom of the screen as we scroll. For this piece, I did not decide on a final composition in advance; instead, I created it by overwriting images within the work itself, leaving part of the process to chance. Furthermore, rather than being mounted on a panel, the fabric is suspended, swaying precariously like a curtain and curving, causing the depicted images to become distorted and difficult to recognize clearly. Is this information up-to-date? Is it true? With AI-generated information also mixed in, accurately distinguishing fact from fiction in the coming era will be an extremely difficult task. Even so, we will likely not stop browsing the internet and obtaining information from it.
