Concept
Whenever a technological device reaches maturity, it begins to undergo a process of folding. The laptop resting flat on our thighs, the foldable phone held closely in our palms—these designs attempt to foster a more intimate context for device usage. Yet, why are we constantly compelled to fold our digital devices? Through the emergence and evolution of foldable digital products, this work explores the underlying human desire for the physical act of "folding." The parallels between anatomical joints and mechanical hinges, between the bending of limbs and the opening and closing of screens, all serve as symbols of the increasingly blurred boundary between human and machine.
