DATA-VERSE U ＃Calendar

Concept

The focal point of PROJECT DATA-VERSE is the visualization of real-time internet information. In this work, “U” stands for “You,” positioning each visitor within an expanding field of data, time, and everyday life. Inspired by the traditional Taiwanese tear-off calendar, often associated with the farmers’ almanac, the work reconsiders a familiar object that condenses multiple systems of time into a single daily page. Alongside the Gregorian date, these calendars incorporate the lunar calendar, the twenty-four solar terms, seasonal and agricultural references, zodiac information, auspicious and inauspicious activities, and other forms of cultural knowledge used to orient daily life. Data-Verse transforms this physical calendar into a networked digital form. Rather than being replaced each year, it remains continuously accessible online and updates in relation to the current day. Its content shifts according to both the Gregorian and lunar calendars: seasonal fruit imagery changes over the course of the year, while the calendar’s accompanying information responds to lunar dates, solar terms, traditional almanac references, and related temporal markers. By connecting the calendar to the internet, the work brings together inherited systems of timekeeping and the constant flow of contemporary data. What was once a disposable daily object becomes a living digital interface, continuously recalibrating itself between seasonal rhythms, cultural knowledge, and networked time.
