Concept
In Keep pace with me, Wanderer, audiences meditate on the procedure of moving or marching together through a format of a walking simulation game. This work lets audiences compare their own speed with others' to sense relative speed as a gesture of identifying one’s place in the community. Audiences adjust the character's walking speed through a physical interface. To engage in conversation with other characters in the game, players must adjust their pace to match the others' footsteps. After the game ends, players can check the leaderboard for signs of the floating ships. Audiences can see which characters other people chose to travel alongside. Through this journey, audiences encounter the various layers of sensation involved in moving together with others, such as companionship, traveling side by side, and a political march.
