Concept

The Iranian national flower, the “Damask rose,” is depicted on the $1 bill. Banknotes are, by their very nature, symbols of a nation’s credit and value. However, their circulation is often inextricably linked to war and violence, and their value does not exist in a neutral sense. In the flow of circulation, individual lives are often treated as consumable and exchangeable commodities, whether they wish it or not. And it is always those who do not wish for conflict who find themselves caught in the midst of such turmoil.
