Concept
This work is based on the catchphrase “I want what I want,” which was conceived by copywriter Shigesato Itoi for a 1988 advertisement for Seibu Department Store. By sealing a $1 bill—painted in a chemical, garish color scheme—inside a bag along with human breath, the piece represents our daily lives, which are marked by desires that continue to swell unchecked and a sense of longing that can never be satisfied.
